What's new

I love heavy metal!

I just wanted you to know. I actually wouldn't be where I am today without it. The flashback songs thread sparked this. I had to listen to some of those songs form the Headbanger's Ball Vol. 1 CDs. Slayer, Strapping Young Lad, Sworn Enemy, Lamb of God, Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Hatebreed. Other bands not on those first HBB CDs that made me want to pursue an audio engineering career are Exodus, Metallica, Dream Theater, Pantera, and Judas Priest!

Thank goodness for good tunes! They (and my wife) are the driving force in my life.

I'm a big metalhead here as well. Every band you mentioned gets a thumbs up from me--except Dream Theater.

Lately I've been listening a lot of Neurosis, Mono, Isis, Pelican, Pig Destroyer, and Torche. I'd suggest picking up Meanderthal by Torche. Great freaking album.

lol i haven't heard strapping young lad in ages........might have to go find where it got to. I always found something slightly comical about them but i don't know quite what it was. I went more for the melodical stuff like Children of Bodom but then I also listen to classical FM...........

I completely understand your love for metal though. I still have a connection with it that most other music doesn't provide. I definitely go through phases as to what I like though.

edit: i'd forgotten how smooth and insanely fast the triplets in detox are.......wow

I'm really getting into Disturbed now, but I'm going to have to check out the other bands that get listed in this thread for sure.

I have been listening to some the of the new wave of thrash bands Municipal Waste and Warbringer, as well as new stuff from the original masters Slayer and Megadeth. High on Fire has also been getting heavy rotation.

The new Pelican is awesome. Also, I have been working through Isis and Sunn O))).

Also, a little love for stoner metal in the form of Priestess. Not too shabby but their debut was a bit better.

Have you guy heard Megadeth's newest album? If not you should pick it up it's pretty twisted.

Listened to it on my way to work this very morning. Dave is still great. The last three albums have been very solid.

The new Slayer is excellent, too.

I only listened to a few clips last night and I can't make much of an opinion on it yet except sonically it sounds nasty and brittle. Where is the full punchy low end? I hear the kick drum but no foundation. If I was Tom I would be upset with the bass guitar level. It all sounds empty as a result. That may be the sound guy in me coming out but its a shame bad engineering hurts good records.

*Keep in mind this is all from a sonic view point.

It is surprising that Tom is not upset 24/7, to be honest.

I don't have a problem with the sound but then I have been relegated to listening on my IMAC, mp3 player and my car. I guess with a Slayer album I am just happy having Dave on the kit.

Let me throw out another decent release: Baroness "The Blue Album". Kinda prog mixed with southern and classic rock. Good stuff.

Iced earth, old mans child, nevermore, sonata arctica, and good old Deicide

(wouldn't consider metal but more hardcore and great)

evergreen terrace and darkest hour

Dark Tranquility, earlier In Flames, Charon, Static X, Rob Zombie, Opeth (sometimes), Isis... that is my preffered metal.

But I love Vivaldi. :D

I'm quite shocked at the metalheads we have here on B&B. I would have never expected it. I like it. keep on keepin on.
