What's new

I just noticed...

Every time I come to this site there is an ad for either some type of electric razor, that silly little cartridge razor that holds 2 cartridges at the same time, or, the newest one, the fusion pro glide.

I thought this was funny considering how things that are new don't work well and how, around here, getting with the program is for dumbasses.

What a pile of bullshitters we all are...

automated ads of moderns shaving products tied to a shaving website. Coincidences a little too big to be coincidences.

Again, bull****...

You are a bunch of "in the closet" cartridge and canned cream users. I bet you used Gillette Foamy with your fusion pro glide this morning.

Are you feeling okay? Bad day?

I am perfectly and utterly serious my dear friends.

These ads come up regardless of what computer I use or where I connect to the site. These are not targeted to me due to spyware or whatever you wanna call it, there are actually ad spots available on this site (I don't mean pop ups)

As mentioned earlier, likely adds generated off of a scan of words on the site (shaving likely occurring fairly often). Automated. Not manually chosen. Revenue for the site.

Besides, would it really be an issue if some people here shave with DEs, SEs, Straights, Plastic multi blades and canned goo, weed whackers or broken whiskey bottles?

To each his own.

Wait, you mean the "Ads by Google" thing on the right side?

lol...

OK first of all, it's by Google. Google scans the page and decides what ads to plug into the website.

If we start talking about Laserjet Printer Ink enough then pretty soon we'll get Laserjet Printer Ink ads.

The site owners don't have any real control over what shows up there. Basically they agree to sell the ad-space to Google for, say, $50 a month. Google takes clients who pay, say, $20 a month to have their ads show up on relevant websites that have bought Google ads.

So Gillette basically just pays money to get their ads on websites that use the words "Shave", "Razor", "Shaving", etc. HP pays money to get their ads on websites that mention "Printer", "Printer Ink", "Laser Jet", "Ink Cartridge", "Printers" etc.

The only time I have seen ads come up is when I have not logged in as a member. Once I am logged in on that computer, the ads are gone.

I have seen the same thing on other forums. Even saw one forum that said to register in order to make the ads go away!

Ok, good point. Now, why would an ad for silly modern razors appear on a website like this one if there isn't a good, receptive audience?

you don't mean to tell me that giants like google or P&G don't understand advertising? you don't mean to tell me that such giants will waste time and resources here if there wasn't a receptive audience, right? you don't mean to tell me that such giants don't gauge the responses?

back to square 1...

ADMIT IT!!!!!!!!!! you LOOOOVE your Gillette Foamy

Get a Mac. They are waaaayyyyyy better than a PC.

Using "Foamy" is sacrilegious and besides, real men use shaving soap or cream as per the members on this site.

I get no pop up ads or ads of any kind on my Mac....just pure enjoyment logged on to B&B

I actually said, clearly, that I was NOT talking about pop ups.

Again, you have to admit you LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE your gillette foamy.

Besides, real men don't wine about irritation and super mild razors for their crystal faces.
