What's new

I guess it's not obvious...

That my heirloom, just-back-from-honing straight isn't for opening plastic blister packages.

"Did you just use my razor to open a package?!"
"Yeah, why?"

I just learned a valuable lesson...

That's really generous of you...any idea how much plastic sawing it would take to ruin an edge? Apparently it was "just to poke a little hole in the package."

(I can't believe I actually need to ask this question)

If it needs re-honing I'll do it for you, you just pay postage.

sounds like someone needs a good shaking.... lol.... *(this is a joke... please do not shake anyone)....

there is a standing order around my house "do not touch my razors for any reason... if it needs to be moved just tell me and i will do it..."

*sigh* shaking already accomplished, but somehow I think a 50+lb weight differential has protected the offender from any damage.

Maybe the civil route would just be to go get his pocket knife resharpened...see if I can make that one more enticing.

I think if it just poked a hole into some tape you should be ok. Give it a good stropping, inspect the edge closely under a bright light (sunlight is the best) if you see any shiny spots that look out of place you might have a problem. If not try shaving, if it's uncomfortable...you have your answer.

Thanks for the advice! Though I'm still at the learning stage where shaving with it is generally uncomfortable :)

Wow. I can't even imagine how that situation would resolve in my house. I think it's just well understood to not touch my stuff.

If it happened I'd just re-hone it, not that it would of course. That's the beauty of knowing how to hone yer own.

So a fellow male of my species used a shave ready razor to poke a hole in a package? Terrible

:scared: I'd offer to hone it again for you, but Rick already did. If you have another razor needing honing, I'm happy to give the same offer as Rick.

Buy a box of scissors for the person in question for their birthday present.
Or hide a pair in ever nook and cranny you can find. :tongue_sm

I admit it, I have done this in desperation. But I don't mind rehoning my razors if need be so it's no sweat off my back.

Haha yeah, I do have a few pocket knives and multitools, but when a box full of razors comes in the mail, sometimes I can't wait and grab whatever is closest.
