I found my blade/razor combo

And its a feather blade installed into a futur on the #3 setting. Just finished my fifth shave with it and it is now time for a fresh blade, no weepers or bleeders at all during the week, it was absolutely a joy to shave with this combo. Tonight shave produced only minor irritation and i only knew when I hit the face with the aluminum block, all week long its been super smooth. This was the second blade I've tried the first being a merkur and to be honest if all blades were as the Merkurs I would have to go back to cartridge shaving or something else they were just that bad for me. But enough of them I love my combo now and all is good.:biggrin1::thumbup::biggrin1:

I have been a straight razor shaver for a long time, with good results. A couple of months ago I started using DEs as well, but I couldn't find a blade that gave a close shave without irritation. Well, that changed today. I used a Merkur Progress, loaded with a feather, on the lowest setting. The first thing I noticed was the reduction that was achieved with one pass. With Derby's it takes me at least two passes to get that amount of reduction (and I can't do too many passes, because my skin is multi-pass-intolerant). Today with the feather however, I did two passes (both WTG) and the result: DFS and no irritation at all!

Bottom-line: finding your blade/razor combo is done by trial and error, but don't fear the feathers!

F-3-F is my preferred combination.
I tried Merkur blades (F-2-M, F-3-M) which came with the razor but it was bad and I recently also tried Super Iridium, but Feathers are superior.

Sometimes I do a second path XTG/ATG with #4 setting as well
(that may be expressed in my newly invented shortened notation
as F-W3-XA4-F, but I don't know if it's superior to F-3-F.
