I've had the Futur for 3 months now and I have finally figured out the adjustments. I do one or two N-S passes, depending on growth on setting 6. Setting 6 is a crazy aggressive setting and shaving any area that isn't completely pulled taught is dangerous so I use this only on areas that are easy to shave. My second pass is S-N and I keep it on 6 for my cheeks and neck. I leave my chin and mustache area untouched until I turn it down to about a 2.5. I finish on this setting. My last pass is E-W (ATG) and I turn it to 6 for my cheeks and neck, but on my neck I take extra caution. I keep it on 6 for this pass on my chin, but turn it down to 1 for my mustache. Finally, I turn the Futur back to 2.5 for buffing on certain spots on my neck and jaw line. This technique has proven to give me bbs with much practice.
Turning the Futur to 6 leaves such a huge gap between the blade and safety bar that it seems impossible to shave ATG on areas like the mustache. I have caught my lip in the gap more than once. I stress the importance of keeping the skin taught while on setting 6, because the large gap makes it easy for loose skin to get caught in it resulting in nasty cuts. I hope some of you can use this to better your shaves, avoiding the errors I made initially with this monster of a razor. One just needs to remember to have more respect for the razor the higher the number he has it set to. Happy Shaves!
