I feel stupid...so much to learn about

Just when I thought I was getting somewhere I watch a video someone posted. I have seen heard of some of these before...vaguely.

Cutting Blam
Paste
Shave Cloth

Geesh! There's so much. Dude's talking about a number 2 paste. How many choices do I have?

Does anyone know where I can get small quantities of these products to try out?

I'm guessing it is basically shave cream in its rare form, then you add cutting balm to reduce it? I dunno. I haven't seen all the video yet.

It would be much simpler to just skip all that stuff and just dive into a shave soap from one of the gracious ladies who are members here, such as Krissy, Mama Bear, Sue at Honeybee Spa, Sue at SCS, etc...

You're referring to "method shaving", which is a unique and highly idiosyncratic shaving system developed by one gentleman in Florida. It involves very specific shaving patterns using products he has developed and exclusively sells. Advocates consider it the new shave millenium, everyone thinks it a bit complicated and overly messy, and the fact that you have to buy his specific products turns a lot of people off. That being said, people who like it, LOVE it.

That changes a lot. I thought the products were more readily available. It'd be fun to try possibly. Who knows. Seems like a lot of work and you're just going to have to shave again when it grows back anyway.

Irrespective of whether you decide to take a shot with method shaving or not, there is still a lot that you can learn about different soaps, creams, brushes, razors, blades, straight razors, hones, strops, pastes, etc.... That's why I stay so engaged. It's really quite fascinating to me.
