What's new

I don't get it

Yeah, I can see it reaching over $100 easily. After all, it is in NOS condition, complete with case, blades, instructions, etc.
But going over $200 is stretching it.

Its a shame that the seller is so uninformed about razors that he doesn't know how to look for the date-code. And its a shame that he can't take decent photos.

I was going to say that the $200+ he got for this razor was beginner's luck. But with over 200 eBay sales under his belt, and a 98% positive feedback, he really should know better.

I have a good amount of vintage razors. Am buying new now and brushes and staying off of eBay in favor of antique stores and flea marts.

it's not in NOS condition though...it's out of the packaging. Some people have more money than brains, I guess, but there is no way in hell I would pay that much, for that razor.

Got my cased Fat Boy for$1.50 and gave it to a mate as a birth year razor. Found it to be an unbalanced, over engineered piece of junk. I don't care how shiny it was.:thumbdown Give me a Gem any day.:001_smile

With prices like these I'm going to need to list a few of mine with bad pictures and description. Maybe I'll be able to retire a few years earlier.

Well, if you think that auction result was poor value for your money, take a look at this canvas painting. It cost the National Gallery of Canada 1.8 millioin dollars to purchase.

I wanna be sedated!
who buys these things for these prices??? Time and time again......!!!

It all depends on how bad people want them. I have picked up a couple of very nice razors off the bay for cheap. A cased 1962 mint slim for $17.00. A lady Gillette almost mint for $19.50. They are out there, fairly priced I saw a double ring go for under $10.00. I was to late on that.

The Fatboys are crazy. I put two or three on my watch list all the time but they end up going for way more than I will pay. I figure patience is a virtue some day I will come across an adjustable Executive for $10.00.

Get used to it guys; with our numbers rising and vintage stuff becoming less in quantity it will only get worse. And once a price like that is made there will be more and more acceptance for these kind of price tags.

This is exactly how I justify my RAD to my fiance.

We're not multiplying that fast; Gillette made millions of these things. At prices like the above, I'm sure more will surface. Of course, there's no counting the guys who already own ten and are still looking for back-ups.
