I did it! Shaved with a straight for the first time

Congrats on a seemingly successful first straight shave. Sounds like you will pick it up quickly. Just a word of caution, don't become as complacent as I did after a few months without bloodshed. Straights can bite.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

The bold is good advice. My one cut was not far from being kind of bad. It was like my 10th shave or so and I was starting to feel like I had it down. Not so much. Even now it’s a methodical proposition. Not slow... but you have to keep your head in the game.

Straight shaving is a focused practice; I'd liken it to zen in some ways. For what it's worth my brush lathering in view of this is two-step: lather the face, shave. Then the neck. This gives you more flexibility (& promotes refining your technique) while keeping the lather fresh.

Congrats Silent.
