i drove up tp oregon with my wife to spend christmas with her dad. before we left we went to a few little cities with antique stores and i found some really good stuff. there are quite a few things i got and ill post each one along with the price of each. i like to show prices for a couple reasons: 1. if anyone sees prices like these buy them 2. if there is something i paid too much for i would like if someone would let me know 3. cuz i like to show that its still possible to find great deals in the wild.
oh and the gillette blade display was waiting for me in the mail. i bought it before i left out of town.
so hear is a list of what i got and the prices
each section is what i got from each store. its mostly so its easier for me to remember what i paid and list
i bought the century brush for 6.50
the US service set, the abc case, and the single ring in the metal case i found all on one shelf
the 1918 us service set is pretty much NOS. all the blades, the mirror, both tacks all for 10 bucks. the razor has a good crack in it but who cares
the 1920 singel ring is in great condition and so it the case. the lining has seen better time but i only paid 12.50 for it.
the abc case is gutted but it was 12.50 and i got a good deal on the other 2 razors that i just got it
at the same shop i also picked up an os mug for 5 bucks and the barbicide jar for 11 bucks
i got the straight with the knotch in the scales for 30 bucks. idk if i paid too much or not though. it says hibbard, spencer barlett co made in germany. our daisy is etched in the balde
i bought the silver williams shave stick for 3 bucks
i also bought the 132 and 133 red imp straights at the same place for 5 bucks a piece. they need some work though. the ends of the scales look like they have both been melted cuz they have been bent. i would like to try and save them but im not sure if i can. the scales need to be cleaned up too and i hope the rust goes away without leaving pitting.
i found the gem jr for 14.50
the long comb new in the case for 11
the 1910 abc was 21 i think and i bought the gold shave stick tin for 3
the os razor, brush, and stand was 25 and they had an os mug that doesnt go with it but it was included with the stand
the barbershop mug was 5 bucks and the mennen talc tin was 3 bucks
i also picked up the wade and butcher for 20 bucks.
last thing i bought at a shop just before i was leaving was the gillette milady decoletee box. it was only 7 bucks and i needed it for my razor my razor with no case. to my surprise it came with a bonus inside, my wife opened it when we were on the road and she pulled out the tissue that the razor would have been wrapped in and itals had the cardboard insert that is put in place of where the blade goes. i was very happy to see that stuff inside.
