What's new

I can't take it anymore... I want in!

I've been poking around the straight razor forum for a while now and everyone here is having fun.
I'm jealous. I want to have fun too.
I'm currently getting DFS to BBS routinely on my DE shaves.
I need to shake things up.

Can I join in too?:blushing:
(i'm going right now to post on the BST: WTB section)

Yay!!! I gave it up for a bit but just started back up with the arrival of my wonderful custom razor.

Advice: Don't go for an awesome looking French point at first. Start with round or square.

Once you go straight, you never go back.:biggrin1:
Not that there's anything wrong with DE shaving.
Mind the spike point, though.

Sure, come on in :001_smile

I got a spike point as my first straight. Ended up with some interesting cuts in my ear but on the other hand, I learned to keep my eye on the point

Wanting for wisdom
Welcome Maxman. It is a fun skill to develop. I've been waiting for someone to complain about shaving costs so I can tell them "I shave with a 100 year old straight razor" . . .

Then again I've been waiting for other topics to come up in casual conversations too . . .

"What's your sign?" . . .
My reply . . . "Slippery when wet"

"Can I speak to your superior?"
My reply . . . "I have no superiors and damn few equals"

Good luck on your journey . . . let us know how it evolves.

Mike

It's a whole lot of fun and the more straight razor shavers the better. You probably know about the stickies and what-not. But if there's anything unclear feel free to ask.

I started out getting all sorts of straights from all sorts of places...
I wish very much I had got one or two shave ready ones off BST...best advice anyone will give you!

You are going to really enjoy this...it's seriously fun, a great shave and when you tell people about it you will at the same time feel very manly and very crazy!

Enjoy!

It is a funny feeling to go from great shaves on the DE to being a newbie all over again. I think if you have a good concept with blade angle you will do just fine. Good luck.
