What's new

I call him Slimer but he is a "IRREG" bakelite brush and stand

I recently traded a local antique vendor a chair I had in my booth for this brush and stand she had in her booth. I bought it to use and display at my house because I liked the color and piece. When I was cleaning it I noticed the bottom has the word "IRREG" branded into the bottom of it. I'm thinking maybe the factory didn't like the color or there is some other flaw I couldn't see in it that would make them mark it irregular. Has anybody else come across something like this? I know that in the sports card world, a error card can be worth more than the normal one sometimes. $P1050557.jpg$P1050558.jpg

I recently purchased a brush and stand similar to yours for $4. My brush is an Ever-Ready #129R. (same mottled green coloring) My brush does not have the, IRREG. stamp on it.

I almost didn't buy it because of condition. Your brush is in a lot better shape then mine. Mine has a well worn boar bristle and the handle is cracked. If I can stabilize the handle by drilling and using clear epoxy to stop the cracking, I will probably install another boar bristle, as per the original.

I also have another similar model, #200BH, in a mottled red color with gold lettering. This one was in very good condition. I restored it with a TGN Finest 22mm badger knot.

I wonder if these particular models are rarer, as I have not seen very many restore pictures of during tha past few years. Or maybe I just missed seeing them.

I seen them online and in stores, the green is one of the more expensive ones. There is a butterscotch colored one in our shop, but I'm not fond of that color.
