What's new

I broke one of the golden rules, and paid for it

So let me start by saying I know if you can't dedicate your full undivived attention to shaving when using a straight razor, its better to either wait until you can, or use a different razor. Of course I broke this rule. It was my fifth straight shave. I've pretty excited because each shave has been getting better, of course by no means good, but better. My face was lathered up and I was running the blade under some hot water when TLOTH walked in and started talking to me. Rather than put the razor down, I continued the converstion and then DING! Bumped the edge right on the faucet. A bit upseting, but I surely learned my lesson. Luckily there is a shop nearby that hones straight razors. Going back to the Mach3 takes all the fun out of it for a little while. In a few days I should be back in action.

That sucks. Not sure what they charge, but if you want, I'll gladly hone it for free. (PM me if you're interested)

Never bumped the faucet yet...but dropped a razor in the sink.

It's a good excuse to get into honing. :)

LOL, you are persistent.

WHAT?

I was simply commenting on this guy's poor luck.

You know, and I know, that bumping a razor into a faucet is something that only happens to the other guy, never you...and certainly not when one is closing in on such a momentous milestone.....perish the thought!

I have bumped the ceramic of the sink once, it did not seem to do too much to the razor. Maybe take a mm off the end. It still works fine, and when I have the cash to get it looked at by someone who can hone I will definitely be taking it in. I feel your pain.

Can you hone those out with film?

I wish I could unsee Seraphim's picture. That's just bad karma. Or is that why he hasn't shaved in a month. I can always lend him my shenanigans razor.

I've dropped one, and done various other stupid things to my straights. The only cure was hones to fix the edge when I goof it up!

Lately, I have done better though. Mostly.
