This is my first foray into writing instruments. Was this a good choice? I'm going to use it but should I? How do I care for it, like a straight razor? Help.
Nice pen. The smaller unit is called a converter, it is what holds the ink. It will either push or screw into the pen. If this is a new pen, it may need flushed. Get some water in a cup, room temp is good. Twist the converter end one way to push the plunger down, then the other direction to make it go up. This will suck water into the pen. Do this 5 or 10 times, ending with it empty. Then, let the pen dry. I would remove the converter for quicker drying. Placing a paper towel contacting the nib will help draw water out of the nib. When dry, reassemble and fill with ink. It may take 4 or 5 empty/fill cycles to get the converter full, as the feed (the area behind the nib) needs to get flooded. Enjoy your pen.
LMAO. James, this needs to be your new custom title. This is probably the single greatest piece of advice I've heard. Thank you for making me snort my Starbucks Americano. Thankfully it had cooled a bit.
Thank you guys for your advice, kind words, and humor. Im having a notebook made with linen paper and my companies logo imprinted on each page for when I due consultations. Small customs books not alot of pages but alot of class. Thank you again. I can not wait to share the next two that I want to get. Hopefully - finger crossed- I wont end up with alot of them like I did Le Grelots.
That is the Mont Blanc 145 aka The Chopin. It is similar to the 146 but it intended for traveling hence the use of a cartridge/converter. Very nice pen, like all Mont Blanc it is something of a wet writer so I would avoid using Noodlers as the results are like writing with a tube of toothpaste.
