Saw hummers around the neighbor's Confederate Jasmine, put out the feeder. Normally it's only out Sept.-Oct., catching them going the other way, perhaps.

I'm the OP. You may be right about the babies.I use the same exact feeder the OP has. We were getting some sporadic activity this year...seemed to me to be a pair...but its gotten quiet. I read somewhere when that happens, they might have gone off to have babies...and they're too preoccupied with feeding their young to hang out at the feeder.

Yes, I've got a saliva plant in a pot out in front and saw a hummers floating about the flowers today.Funny, the birds have deserted the feeders down here, too. They love the flowers, though.
Awesome!!!Only seen three at a time at the feeder this year. They will flit around SWMBOs flowers from time to time.
Couldn't get a pic. of all of them together, but did get one of them around the feeder.

Screech owls are another good one to attract. Not to detract from the thread, but if you want to watch some fun birds, attract some purple martins. I've had a colony for about 15 years and never get tired of watching them fly around.
We just got wrecked by a hurricane...
I wondered about this. Sorry to hear it.
On a totally different topic, have you read The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea? Loads of history of your area in the early chapters.
