How to take the logo off a Tabac bowl?

Is anyone aware of a way to take the Tabac logo and other writing off of a ceramic Tabac bowl? I was thinking it would make an amazing bowl for other soap once empty, they're basic, thick and well made. I'm hoping to shave a stick of Irisch Moos into one of the bowls once I'm able to track a stick down (easier said than done).

So, if anyone knows a way to get it off, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks!

It's painted on the glass. I bet that it will come off with a scrubbing pad or, at the most, light sanding.

try acetone (finer nail polish remover) or scrape off with a razor blade (preferably a SE blade)

use a cube of sugar. worked with the removal of logo's on phones without leaving marks.

I think that other soaps will work in there, even if the Tabac logo is still on it, but I'm not sure.

Of course, remember that Tabac SS has those little grooves to fit over the bars molded into the bowl --

You might have to do some whittlin' to make it fit.

I got an idea, once the Tabac in your bowl runs out go and buy a Tabac refill. I bet it will fit in the bowl (No hammer necessary)

Just figured I'd take the logos off the ones with no Tabac in it, so in 10 years I don't have 15 white bowls with "Tabac" on the side

It is a nice bowl for $4. You could just make nice plasticized labels to go over the Tabac logo, since, presumably, you would want to ID your other soaps too.

Just for fun I just had a go at removing the logo using some Trichloroethylene I had sitting around the place. That stuff is a pretty powerful organic solvent and it didn't make a dent in the logo. I'm pretty sure that the logo is baked onto the bowl and the only way of removing it will be by physical abrasion. Try a very fine grade of wet and dry paper.

I might experiment with a few other chemicals if I get the time and I'll let you know if I have any luck. I would kind of prefer if the empty bowls were logo free, myself.

I took a fine 150 grit sanding pad to it earlier and barely put a dent in the logo. I have a feeling the logo is painted on before the bowl is cured, with some sort of clear coat over the top (I have no idea how that stuff works, though).

Yeah, making labels is starting to seem like the more time conscious method. If it's too big a pain in the you-know-what to get the label taken off first, just covering it with a label wouldn't be the end of the world.

I have some Van Der Hagen soap in a Burt's Bees mug. The VDH sometimes gets an identity crisis but I just tell the soap to get over it.

Especially since you are probably going to wind up labeling them anyway. Just get yourself a nice labeling software (or hand-draw them, if you are artistic).
