How to get Gentlemen's Best to lather

I just purchased a stick of Gentlemen's Best Chill. How are you supposed to get this stuff to lather?

I find a stiffer brush doesn't work at all, while a moderately floppy brush will generate a little lather. Protection is.....ummmm....so so.

You should be getting terrific lather with that soap, I used it just today myself.
If you are using a shave stick, make sure you completely cover your beard with a good amount of soap, then bring the wet-ish but not dripping brush to your face and start to build lather.
You should be able to generate enough lather for 4 passes this way.

Are you trying to make lather directly from the stick using your brush? If so, that would be awkward & might account for your difficulty. As Jim said, you need to rub the stick all over your wet beard. From there, build the lather directly on your face with your shaving brush.

This soap is stupid easy to lather. Seriously -- it practically lathers itself!

I'm using it just like my Speick, Palmolive, Arko and DR Harris shave sticks. Covering my full beard area directly with the shave stick and then brushing like a ****.

I'm in the bay area in CA right now. The water doesn't feel too hard and i've had normal success with Arko and DR Harris sticks here.

Just looking to see if other people have had similar problems. Not trying to bash the GB right now. Still got a few more tries and scenarios before I get to that point:tongue_sm

Maybe it's the glycerin?

Dip the tip of the stick in some warm to hot water to soften it a bit.
Maybe this helps to get more soap on the face.

Water quality can be a factor for some soaps and lots of manufacturers include EDTA to compensate.
But in case you have hard water, just use more soap.

The GB soap is really top notch, IMO. It does take a little bit of experimentation to get the soap to water ratio right (needs a bit more water than what I was used to), but Jim's suggestion of starting with a wet, but not dripping wet, brush should help. I'm very pleased with the product
