How to clean the wax that Russian blades leave on TTOs?

These glue dots are ANNOYING
I almost bent a door when the blade adhered itself to the top of my favorite Slim and prevented the doors from opening.

Now the residue is everywhere. I used a Q Tip soaked in naptha, and wiped it off, but I don't wanna do that EVERY time I swap a blade. (and risk dulling the blade when it cuts the Q tip)

Thanks

Run the blade under hot water? Put the dots on the bottom?

+1 i use the Astra blades which have horrible amounts of that stuff (it is actually wax). usually what i do that works pretty well is throw the new blade in the hot sink water along with my brush. after about a 20 second soak i take out the blade, give it a quick swipe with the brush and the wax is gone:biggrin1:

easy enough i think.

And if you have one of Bob's razor handles with the magnets on the bottom, it's even easier. You can hold it under the running water from a safe distance and not get burned!

I've been dealing with this on iridiums for awhile, and I just take the old blade, holding it very -=carefully=- in the center, and use the edge of the old blade to gently scrape the stuff off the new one. Done and Done.

I use the old blade to remove the new wax drops myself. Sometimes it comes off clean, and other times it is more gooey and leaves a spot. I wonder if using cold water will make it harder, thus easier to peel off in one go ? I'll have to try that next time ...

As other have said, hot water is your best recourse. As the blade adhesive is made from wax, it should wash out. Unfortunately, the wax dots are a problem with Astras.
