How to clean Old Type Travel Set Canisters?

I have recently picked up a Gillette Old Type 00G set like the one in Achim's photo below.

Are these canisters brass and able to be polished up? Or are they gold plate and therefore not really polishable? There are some water spots on the canisters in my set and on one of the blade boxes. I am wondering how to clean up these items? (The razor I gather is gold plate?)

Clean them with scrubbing bubbles and then polish them up with some maas, or with some wrights silver cleaner polish. I believe they are nickel plated. Nice find.

They aren't nickel.
I have a set like that too, and I wish I knew how to make them shine again without damaging what gold plating is left on them.

They should be gold plated. If they look tarnished, then the gold plating has likely worn off. They are made of brass, just like the razor and the blade banks. Maas is not good to use on anything has plating... you will scrub the plating right off. Use something more mild like flitz.
