How Old Is Your Merkur 34C HD and Edwin Jagger DE89?

My copies are relatively new and still in mint condition. The 34c was my first DE razor, bought 2.5 years ago. It is used more than 400 times. My DE89 was bought 2 years ago and has a lot less uses, probably 60-70 shaves.

FWIW, I own some of the popular sub-100$ stainless steel and brass razors, but I always return to my 34c. I own a second one, but should both fail and Merkur be out of business, as rumored a few months ago, I will be using the DE89 as my primary razor. Although not identical, it works very well for me.

Personally, I fully accept that, but I am in the minority of genuinely not seeing anything wrong with it either.

It was roughly seven years till I had to replace the top cap on my Jagger. That cost £7.50 and came with a free pack of blades. I don't begrudge maintenance costs of £1 per year, on something that gives me fantastic shaves on a £30 initial outlay. Is £30 for 2000 shaves really so bad? Especially when spending a further £7.50 then gets you another 2000.

Some of the great values in ‘traditional’ wet shaving IMHO!! :a29:
