How often do you smoke?

My drugstore blend/FM order came in and I'm probably going to be smoking more than usual as a result...Was curious to know how often you guys fire up a cigar or a bowl?

Usually 2-3 times a week at most.

That's what I want to aim for. I'm plowing through all sorts of samples right now, so it's been a daily affair. Tried some Middleton's Walnut today---delicious! I would go so far as to call it the poor man's Frog Morton. Very nice latakia flavor given the price point!

I am not supposed to smoke at all, but I still enjoy my pipe. 42 years of pipe smoking is hard to break quickly. I used to always have a pipe in my mouth, and would go through 5 to 6 bowls a day. I am down to about 3 bowls right now, but that is slowly increasing.

Once a week, sometimes just once every two weeks. I really enjoy having a bowl or a cigar but tend to enjoy tobacco when I'm ruminating over a difficult subject or topic.

If I enjoyed a smoke everytime I dealt with a difficult subject, I would have a pipe or cigar hanging out of my mouth constantly. Maybe you're on to something...:a39:

I guess I'm doing pretty well if I smoke only once a week.

Interesting; seems like a lot of us are going at it daily now.

Just out of curiosity, how big of a risk do you view your pipe smoking to be in relation to your health? I am of the mind that moderation is a good thing. Once I pick out a couple "go-to" tobaccos to enjoy, I think I'd be comfortable taking the risk of smoking 2-3 bowls a week.

I think tobacco use is over-demonized because of cigarettes, but I think it's hard to deny the real cancer risks. A few good relaxing bowls add enough pleasure and joy to my life that I'm willing to take the risk. I think the stress-busting aspect of pipe/cigar smoking is quite beneficial to well-being, too.

1-3 bowls a week. Sad part is I have 7 higher end briar pipes :) I smoke a briar and it usually doesn't get smoked again for 2-3 weeks sometimes longer.

There is a study somewhere that the moderate pipe smoker lives longer than the nonsmoker. Something about the decreased stress levels in the pipe smoker. Take with salt, and YMMV.

I could buy that. I know there are also some cognitive benefits to smoking as well. Rates of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's are significantly lower in smokers. Apparently, this has to do with nicotine and the dopamine response. Scientists are actually working to create nicotine derived drugs as a result. Of course, the risks of cigarette smoking far outweigh some of the paradoxical benefits of smoking; but interesting facts none-the-less!

I smoke 1 cigar a week unless I am on vacation then it is 1-2 a day. A cigar has more vitamin C than orange. I think I read that some where on the internet.

Over the last 2-3 months (unemployed) my smoking has increased but I think I'm still under 1-a-day average. I kinda smoke in spurts often based on when I get a new pipe or some tobacco. I was up to around 1-2 a day for a few days last month, but the last couple weeks I've only had one every other day or so. Then I went to the river last Friday & smoked 3 cobs within a few hours...

...so I'll guess 3-5 a week average for now.
