What's new

How much?

I'd like to sell some straights and in some cases I really don't know what to ask. I bought them in a lot to try, but just don't have time for straight shaving right now...just DEs, so....

What would you ask for this Wade & Butcher 6/8?

I'd say it's more of a wedge as well.

Thanks guys

I'd give about $25.00 for it . Looks to be possibly a 1/4 hollow . I'm not into brand names . Just how the razor shaves on MY face . :001_smile

I'd guess at not shave ready . Seems to me the person who might have gotten it shave ready would of removed the rust at the pivot pin area . Maybe not who knows .

So you have a 1/4 hollow mirror finish Wade and Butcher of Sheffield England, carbon steel razor with no gimps. It dates from arround the 1900.

Your blade looks to have been rescaled (I don't think W&B sold razors with that type of handle). There is rust around the pivot pin and the razor is not shave ready.

In great condition with new scales, totally mirror polished and made shave ready it is worth between $70 and $110 depending on the quality of the new scales.

It's not worth much to me as a restorer but you might get $50 on e bay. I don't think you should sell it in that condition on this forum.

Members are looking for razors to shave with that are hygenic, not rusting and in a shave worthy condition. See an example here......

If you have it refurbished and made shave ready, I don't think you will make a profit but You would have a proper razor to shave with.

Incidentally, members don't usually advise on selling prices. You can look them up very easily by checking out either the forum selling section or looking on e bay at "vintage razors".

I hope this helps.
