I fell off the wagon this year and bought another soap, even though I swore I wouldn't. All right, I'm serious this time.

I have 12. That number is going up by 6, all fougere soaps as recommended by folks on another post.
A picture of your den showing those soaps would be nice. I like Fougeres.

Too many. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them. I haven't bought in over 1 year.
I'm trying to narrow things down the same way. It's like instant FOMO choosing a soap, so I'm working down the number of soaps to get away from that choice angst.
I'm running about 5 right now:

MDC Fougere
Stirling Varen
Proraso (will ALWAYS have proraso)
Plisson something or other (I got it ~10 years ago tallow based with a fancy soap dish)
In the drawer but getting some infrequent usage:

A choice of three, seems to be the sweet spot for me. Two leaves me being at risk of not being in the mood for either of them, and four+ is more choice than I want to face, and I find myself getting irritated by the presence of the lesser used stuff.
Having everything else put away, and only brought out when the previous equivalent item, seems to alleviate/emliminate the frustration. It's a weird balance of having lots of options, but not being faced with them at every shave. Having one of those three only being sample sized portions, increases the frequency at which the choice of three changes.
So while I only have a choice of one cream, one mug soap, and one sample of a tub soap, it's a continually evolving platter to choose from. Here's how things currently sit.

I just cut off a couple ounces of a brand new brick of Cella. So I guess the amount of soap I have is 1 kilo - 2 ounces = .9xxxx something of a kilogram.
40-45, a few don't see much use, the others I rotate through. There are several I want

...but this one IS cracked.
In August I had 19 so I decided to 3017 some, I even joined December's GRUME and by the end of the year I was down to 15. Then I ordered some soaps from new to me manufacturers, and 3017d another soap, by the end of January I was back up to 20. Now I have 3 more "spare" and 3 more on the way so I'm now up to 26. Wait? What? Where did that lot come from?

I picked up B&M Sandalwood. I was in the market for a straightforward sandalwood soap, and I was anxious to give the Softheart base a go. Fantastic soap.
