Luckily, I'm not required to wear one every day. That's California casual for you, I guess. I'm sure that will change when I move back to NY next month.
none. Nothing I do requires more than dress pants and shirt. The only 2 times I've wore a tie in the last 3 years was for a job interview (my current job), and the funneral of a man who used to contract with our company.
Three, but I want three. I used to have a blue and gray, but I outlived the blue and bought a classic black and summer gray, so I'm missing a blue and have an extra gray. If that makes sense. At least the second gray is a heavy winter suit. The black is too formal for a lot of things. Four is just too many suits for weddings, funerals, job interviews, and the opera every *** years. I need to get invited to more cocktail parties.
I have 3. One that doesn't fit, 2 that do. However these suits are only used occasionally, as I don't need them for work. Crawling around under desks and in server rooms isn't really kind to a suit. Although I would find it humorous if I ever found myself pulling CAT 5 cable in a suit.
I have six. You get a suit every year pretty soon you have a lot of suits. My old job I would wear a suit twice a week. Now I wear a suit for work twice a year. When I take the wife some place nice I will wear a suit also. That being said I wear a suit 10 times a year. Six is more than enough suits for me.
6 suits, a tuxedo, 6 sport jackets and 12 pairs of dress slacks. About 1/2 are conservative and 1/2 are more fashion forward. I had my own business which required that I dress to match the executives I dealt with in a variety of businesses and settings.
I'm basically retired now and wear a suit an average of once a week. There's a very nice young man in the neighborhood who's always willing to help everyone without wanting any compensation. He's graduating from university with a degree in business, doesn't own a suit and his mother is a single parent. In the new year he's going to get a very nice wardrobe that I'll have tailored for him, for free.
