How many shaves out of DE blades on average

I just got into DE shaving and was wondering how many shaves people use their blades for? I've try tried so far Astra SP, Shark SC and Lord Platinum and been using them for a couple of shaves a piece just because I want to try out different blades, but I don't want to waste them either.

There will always be someone who claims to get 27 shaves from a blade and it was still going strong, etc.

Most folks around here tend to report 3 to 4 shaves for a blade, some folks will toss them after just 1 or 2 shaves others 5 or 6.

I guess it is just one of those things where every face and beard is different.

I will usually get between 5 and 7 shaves out of a DE blade but some blades I can use 14 times before they start to tug.

A lot of blade longevity is dependent on how well you prepare your beard (i.e. how well hydrated and soft it is). What type of facial hair you have (coarse steel wool or soft fluffy kitten fur). The type of razor you are using. And how well you understand the proper angle the razor needs to be used at.

Changing any one of those variables can cause a blade to go south after 2-3 shaves or last a couple of weeks.

Normally I'll use a blade for three shaves. I'll ditch a blade after 2 uses if I'm not enjoying it. Could I get 4, 5, or 6 shaves out of some blades? Maybe. But I'm not going to risk a bad shave to find out.

I always get 6 shaves out of every blade that I use. First shave is usually with a Weber and my last with a ATT H-1. 1 blade a week/1 day off.

I usually toss them after 3 shaves...not necessarily because they are dull, but because I want to change razors.

Some blades (Polsilver SI) age better than others (Blitz).

one of the most popular questions on these boards, a search will reveal that has been asked plenty of times before, have a look. I get anywhere from 3-5 shaves per DE blade.

I now use exclusively Feathers, and I get 4 shaves out of 1 blade with perfect comfort, in an R41 or Fatboy (in a 39C Slant I would get 3 and then change). In terms of variables, I have very thick and fast growing stubble. I always shave after a hot shower, and I use a pre-shave product (generally Proraso pre).

I always change the blade on a Friday whether due or not. I just like to announce the weekend to myself with a shiny new blade is all.

3 for me too. But they do last longer. Like some said above depends on how you've prepped your beard. If they're nice and soft that helps.

Head shaver here: I can easily do two shaves, two passes each. The only exception so far is Merkur. They do not agree with me in terms of me wanting to keep my face intact.

I use Astra SP blades and I change mine every Monday. I do a three pass shave seven days a week and they always last well for me. I can't imagine changing them after just a shave or two. My Astra blades always perform the best after the second or third shave.

I only shave 3-4 times a week, but I'm getting into the routine of swapping every Sunday morning. I use Astra SP's. I could posssibly get one or two more shaves out of them, but they are cheap enough i don't push it.

Astra SP's are also my usual blade but I still only get two good, comfortable shaves from them. Many blades are one and out. My beard seems to get harder to cut every year (or the blade manufacturers are cheaping out -- here's looking at you Personna).

Astra SP is my daily blade. I can get 5-6 shaves per blade with a 3 pass shave. I typically dump them after 4 so I dont risk a bad shave.

+1
My average is 6 shaves. A few I can only get 4. I'm currently on 13 with a Spoiler but there are many modern blades that I get 10+ from.

Im a 3 scrapes and toss it guy. Get a lot of pull on my neck and under my chin if i don't. Beside getting more blades on-line also gives me an excuse to get something new (one never has enough creams, AS, soaps, razors, colognes... When does it end?) as well.
