Why would someone dig up an eleven year old thread to give advice?

We didn't realize it was an old post until you mentioned it.
Now is just the right time for the OP to report back on whether the razor is still healthy.

My EJ DE89 is 11 years old and other than some minor scuffs on the cap (from setting it upside down on the vanity counter), looks close to new. I have hard water and always thoroughly rinse and dry all of my razors after each use. Do I wish they used a brass head instead of Zamak? Yes. Regardless, I've just added a second EJ in their gold finish with the Barley handle.

I have read of QC issues with Merkur but rarely with Edwin Jagger. It's almost always the screw post breaking when I do read complaints.
