How Long Between Shaves?

I have noticed for some time that I seem to get a little better results when I go 2 days between shaves. Now I know that everyone's hair growth rate will vary...mine I would say is average. If I skip a day, I have nice stubble but don't like as if I have been on a deserted island. Okay, to my point...is it just me or have you found that allowing your beard to have a tad bit more length improves the overall quality of your shaves?

I am just the opposite. I get BBS if I shave first thing in the morning and before I retire at night. About a 12 hour rest between shaves. Follow this pattern two to three times a week. Cheers

I think you got something their, because I skipped a day which I had a pretty good growth. And I shaved tonight, and was like man that's a nice shave. It came out baby butt smooth. I never used electric razors always wet shaved. But as I just found out from here my procedures were wrong. So since I joined up here. I been paying real close attention to my shaves. I find when my berd is a little longer the hair gets softer under the hot water then if i shave everyday. I'm glad I seen this post. Because it help me see why my shave felt so good tonight !! Thanks

I like to shave ever other day or at least every 36 hours. Sometimes I will go 3 days with no Shave. I get a closer shave and I enjoy shaving off a good amount of stubble.

+1 On the every other day shave!!!

I have tried to shave every day but can't, I don't get a BBS. If I go every other day, I get a BBS every time...

An apple a day and a shave a day work for me. :tongue_sm

Shaving every day - and sometimes twice a day - suits me just fine.

I like to shave every morning. I aim for a CCS using mainly WTG strokes. I usually have a 5 o' clock shadow but it isn't unpresentable. The main reason I'm shaving using mostly WTG strokes is that I'm learning still and working on my technique. I want to minimize the amount of abuse my skin has to go through for now. It also leaves me with a decent amount of stubble the next morning so I can enjoy the shave.

Since beginning I've been able to achieve BBS with a couple small nicks, a little irritation, but with no razor burn. I liked how smooth my face felt, but I could also feel that my skin was irritated in areas. It very well could have been razor burn that wasn't necessarily bad enough to be visible, I'm not sure. Either way I decided that for now I'd rather go for CCS and let my skin improve and heal even better than ever.

I think I could have a CCS, DFS of BBS and chances are most people throughout the day wouldn't know the difference. Each morning I look clean-shaven no matter how I shave, I've allowed myself to accept the CCS. This is how I feel at this point in time, 6 months to a year down the road I may feel like I need a BBS each morning.

I'm enjoying my shaves!

I think facial hair becomes softer by the second day making it easier to shave off. Not sure if thats true or not to be honest, but I probably read it on this site since its hardly something I would be likely to find in the daily news.

could it be possible that if you shave every other day that you spend that little more time achieving a BBS? and i gather the prep would be spot on also.

I've noticed that my shave with a two day growth are BBS without much effort.
It may be the fact the whiskers are longer.

However, I can't stand having any kind of facial hair anymore.

Just love the feeling of being clean shaven every morning.

Plus it is now fun to shave since I've started using DE razors etc.

I got moves like Jagger
I shave every morning and onc more in the evening if we go out. By hair growth I should save in the morning and when i get home from work. I have the clearly defined Homer Simpson / Fred Flinstone shadow right after a DFS. Dark and thick hair on pale skin makes for a stark contrast. Now and then I use talcum power instead of balm and it lightens the look, but my shadow (even if it is smooth) is part of whan makes me, me.

If I get a really good shave one day and then try to shave the next I sometimes get a rough shave. So lately I've been trying to ease off on going for complete BBS, or waiting 36 or 48 hours in between shaves.

It depends on circumstances for me:

- If I'm working a job where I have extensive contact with people (like right now) then daily shaving is a must.
- If I'm working as a lab tech where I must answer to the PI on occasion, then I'll shave every 2-3 days.
- If I'm at school, then it's grow baby grow! (i.e. every 4-5 days)

- ice

I've found that if I shave every other day it is FAR more comfortable then every day. I always attributed it to my layers of skin having time to heal between shaves.

Am currently unemployed, so I can shave as often as I want, so I've been going 2-3 days between shaves. 2 days between shaves is perfect 3 or more becomes problematic.

I couldn't shave every day even if I wanted to. My hair grows too slowly. Once every 3-4 days if perfect for me. Just lopped off 2 week growth the other day with a straight. very satisfying.

I shave every morning, it feels like something is missing if I dont. It's like forgetting to brush your teeth. Just something I have to do.

If I am running low on time, I'll do a one pass shave. My hair growth is average, I can go a couple days but I would rather not. I want to look presentable, you never know who's going to visit our office each day. Could be the CEO, could be the VP.

I usually shave every morning, even on weekends. In this capacity I happily use a selection of vintage gillettes. If I've gone a few days though, none but the NEW delivers ultimate shaving satisfaction.

I'd guess that you have your routine down pat for a shave every 2 days, but that some change of technique or hardware might work better if you wanted to shave daily.

If you're happy with what you're doing though, there's nothing to improve!

I like BBS and strive for it in every shave. Every 2 days is the most frequent I can go without lots of irritation. Sometimes I go 3-4 days which gives me my best results. For some reason the hair seems softer to cut. Same way on my head with my headblade, although I can't let it go too long or it gums the razor up.

When I get a good BBS shave on a morning shave (90% of the time) I am business presentable for 2 days. Luckily, my job isn't one where I need to be clean shaved every day.

I would guess that those who go for, and get, BBS with every shave are less frequent shavers, and those who shave every day are probably more ok with DFS's (generally speaking).

Every other day shave for me as well. Sometimes longer. I get the best BBS's with multiple days growth. I could prep for 4+ hours and not get a terrific shave if I shaved every day. Shaving every day just doesn't work for me.
