How do you use a 'Shave Stick"

I just purchased the Speick shave stick, boy this thing is small. I have always been a little stumped on how to use a shave stick like this.

This is what I do, I wet my beard, then wash it with Nancy Boy's Mild Facial Cleanser. Then with a wet beard, I rub the shave stick on my beard. I then use my brush and move around the soap into a lather. Then shave and repeat.

Does this seem right? Any thoughts?
Thanks,

It's really easy. All you have to do is wet it and rub it all over your face while soaking your brush. Then, do everything like you would with a bowl except build the lather on your face instead of a bowl... They are really easy and convenient. Enjoy it.

Are sticks favorites for anyone here even if they aren't traveling? Is there a noticeable difference in quality? If I pick up a TOBS stick (I have heard they last up to 2 years) for 14 dollars, will it give me as good a result as the soap in a mug?

They'll give you great results, equivalent to that in a mug/bowl, however, they won't last you that long if used exclusively. We've got a project where we run through shave sticks and count how many shaves to the bottom, and the most that we've gotten was 146 (Tabac). We haven't done a TOBS yet, but I have a hard time seeing it lasting much longer than that (maybe even less depending on the size). Currently we are working on an Arlington stick. Maybe you should check out that thread:001_smile
