How do you travel w/ your razor

I'm sure there's already a post on this. I used the search function and didn't see any though.

I have my grandpops DE razor and I don't have the case. How do you travel w/ your razor. Do you just toss it in the dopp kit or is there a special way you travel with it?

Lots of posts, and a whole section in the wiki. Comes up a lot. If you're on an airplane, then either put your blades in checked luggage (which will probably cost you extra), mail them ahead, or buy some when you get there. The razor without the blades is no problem. You can buy aftermarket cases if you want something to protect it, or stick in a travel soap dish, or just toss it in with a bunch of other stuff.

I would love a Dopp kit (the nice ones seem expensive), but at the moment, when I go traveling, I just put my Merkur HD into the cardboard box it came in and put it in a plastic gallon bag with my Edwin Jagger travel brush. And of course I stick my actual blades into checked baggage, or wait to buy some at my destination.

I made a travel container out of a plastic travel soap dish (the kind you can buy anywhere with the snap shut lid). It holds my razor, 5 pack of blades and styptic pencil. I used some foam and traced out the razor, blade pack, etc and cut the shape with an Exacto knife.
