How do SE razors compare to other types, like OC or slant?

I've had six shaves with a GEM 1912 and GEM stainless ptfe coated blades now, and they have been the most effortless and comfortable shaves ever. Before trying SE shaving I've tried a Fatboy, EJ DE89, Merkur 23C and Wilkinson Classic, with Personna, Astra, Gillette and Feather blades. DE shaving is really nice, but SE has better results it seems.
I also like how the open comb safety bar on the 1912 feels.

Now what I haven't tried yet concerning DE razors, are open comb razors, like the Gillette New, and slant bar razors, like the Merkur 37C. How does a SE like the 1912 or Damaskeene compare to an OC or slant?

Dave my reaction to SE shaving was quite similar to your's.Before SE I tried various DE razors right up to a few modern stainless steel models.I found that the performance of the Vintage (pre 1921) Gillette OLD open comb razor was (for me) superior to all other DE razors.....

AND that of the DE's the pre 1921 OLD comes the closest to the performance of Single Edge Razors so my transition to and love of SE razors makes sense.

There are SE razors that are more efficient/aggressive than the 1912 type you've experienced,I tend to perfer those over the 12's

GEM stainless steel ptfe coated SE blades are the only blades I use.

My limited experience, but here you go. My daily shaver is a Merkur 39c slant. I find that of the ~8 razors I've tried, it's the smoothest for me. In terms of SE razors, I've tried a variety of Schick injectors, as well as a Gem OCMM. That OCMM will absolute annihilate my whiskers with a WTC pass, maybe even more effectively than the slant. Subsequent passes XTG and ATG aren't as smooth for me as the slant. I did just get a Damaskeene which I'm anxious to try.
