How do I remove CrOx from a strop?

I have recently read that only a small amount of CrOx should be applied, not even covering the surface of the strop. I have of corse, completely covered my paddle strop with it.
I was wondering what damage it could do having too much on the strop?

Is there a way to remove the CrOx from leather?

You should be OK. You could wipe the excess off with a paper towel. What is you paddle strop, leather or balsa or...?

my strops are generously covered with CrO and I am doing just fine.
if you want to clean it use leather conditioner, Lexol for example.
Clean the surface and reapply. If you want to make your own liquid , mix some CrO with baby oil that will allow to spread more evenly and easily.

I've tried putting stripes on my balsa paddle, and putting a fine film across the entire stropping surface. Both work. I prefer to cover the entire strop surface. Check your blade every few passes until you get the feel for the surface as its pasted. You'll be fine.
