How Are The New Simpson Labels Holding Up?

I have seen comments here and there stating the Vulfix-owned Simpson "Made in England" labels no longer fall off when they have been exposed to water. Do any of you who have used these newer Simpsons for at least six months agree they are now built to stay?

I know of the clear fingernail polish trick, but I am wondering how the labels are lasting WITHOUT having been treated/coated by the consumer. How 'bout it?

I've had mine a few weeks and I'm sure it's gonna fall off. Looking forward to it actually, I'll have to take the time to help it a long.

I have been using my CH 1 several times a week for two months. The sticker is still in tact.

Sounds like except for a solitary incident, the labels are a great improvement. Which makes it much tougher to answer my follow-up question. On the Somerset Simpsons, the markings were done with lamp black, and under the label it was blacked Simpson. Does anyone know, with the current engraved markings, if the Simpson brand name is still being put on the handle under the label?

Mine aren't...the one on my Colonel fell off during it's maiden shave...my chubby 2 is peeling back after about 8-10 weeks...I have two others that have fallen off within the first 6 months of ownership...the other 4 are just fine (for now)...I have started to believe that these are meant to fall off...otherwise they would have carved them in...

I only have one Simpson brush, a Beaufort B1, with about 4 months of use on it. The sticker was pretty secure, but the majority of the lettering wore off of it before it started lifting on one end. I just pulled it off.

Hi Dale, haven't had the lettering issue...but I'm fortunate enough to have a pretty large rotation going and each brush comes in 'normally' every 6-7 days...I say normally because all these discussions revolving particular brushes like the Chubby 2 or the FINEST result in my rotation being put on hold while I hit that particular brush for a few days straight! I face lather, am very particular about my brushes, dry the handles, shake out the bristles and put them back on their shelf...yet the badges have fallen off adding to my belief that these were meant to come off with use...

I am thinking that some of the lettering coming off the sticker was from contact with the side of my shaving mug as I was loading it with soap. I do follow a proper care of the brush, rinsing it, drying it, and letting it sit on the shelf until dry. There

No Simpson engraving under the sticker on my four Simpson/Vulfix brushes. Reason I know, I like em better without the sticker ( like my Sommerset's ) so I remove it before use.

I thought I read sometime ago that the original Simpson water transfer decals were meant to fall off. I thought the idea was that those labels ensured that the customer was getting an unused brush. If the brush was used, then water would have taken the label off. Also, the original labels did have the Simpson brand in lamp black under them. However, some people have been lucky with the decals staying on.

I believe the new Vulfix labels are intended to stay on for as long as possible. I have found that the lettering on my Simpson brushes does fade, as I would expect given the contact with water and soap.

There are a few approaches a person can take with regards to these decals. A person can just not care if the decals fall off. A person can ask Vulfix for replacement decals. A person can clear coat the decal in hopes of keeping it intact. Some seem to use clear nail polish. Perhaps a clear coat solution that model makers use to make their decals shiny could work as an encapsulate.

Got to be careful with what clear nail-polish you use...I grabbed 'one' of the clear ones lying around...now sure what type or what it was except that it was a clear lacquer of some sort that my wife uses...when I swiped across the label, it dissolved and smeared the ink...I had to remove that particular label...

My Tulip 2 Simpfix label fell off. The Eagle label is wrinkled a bit and will fall off eventually, but I don't care.

Of the pre-Fix labels, all of them were covered with a clear coat of nail polish and, with the exception of the Duke 3, all labels remain intact.

about 6 weeks into my Duke 2 and holding strong. The company is quite willing to send out replacements though. They have great customer service I might add.

My six month old Simpson Ehsan's label is still intact with no signs of it coming off.

Happy shaving,

Doug
