Hot water?

Really depends on the person imo. I have mild hair, and truthfully can't tell a difference. But I always use Proraso pre-shave cream.

I soak my brush in warm water. Wash my hair in cold and legs in warm. Then I lather with cold water and swirl my razors in hot.

I occasionally switch things around. Other than the old bipods shivering, I see no difference in results.

I'm a cold water shaver like others I saw it mentioned here on B&B. I tried it and it cut my irritation down to zero like I've said before I don't know why it just works for me. As for the shower it's either warm or tepid depending on the season but never hot.

Is it absolutely necessary to use really warm to hot water while in the shower if someone wanted to use proraso soap with brush or a shave stick of any brand? What about just regular cold water?

You can use any temperature water that you like. There's no rule, and no shaving police.
