Homemade Bay Rum Aftershave

I have decided to try my hand at making a homemade Bay Rum Aftershave and Cologne and an documenting my process and results here.

I recently purchased 3oz of dried leaves. I was told to expect about 100 leaves, but it looks to be about three times that amount.

Today I started by soaking 60 leaves in a pint jar with just over 2 cups 190 proof Everclear.

My plan is to make a tincture with it that I can easily dilute, split into smaller batches, and add other scents and ingredients to.

I also made a smaller jar with 4oz spiced rum (the smell had notes of vanilla and cinnamon) and added two leaves to it, just to see how the scents meld.

Your Google Fu beat mine. It took me a long time to find the whole leaves. I bought mine at the link below. I bought the three ounce loose tea option and messenged the seller to arrange for whole leaves to be sent.
