Home Made Anything! ( DIY )

Here is a place to post shave and non-shave related DIY ( do it yourself ) projects alike. Feel free to show off your skills, or lack there of, and to swap ideas and advice on how to create something unique to fit specialized needs, or just to save a buck or two. Looking forward to seeing everyone's creations.

Let me start with a few modest creations of mine.

I really hope I like this wet shaving once I get the razors honed... I'd love to make a few shelves/stands for things.

Man this thread really died

No, man. It was a good start, but I guess there's a lot of DIY stuff scattered here and there. I'm new here, but I hope that there could be a corner for DIY. It's nice to consume Penhaligon's this and Mühle that, but it's somewhat hard to find the quite amazing DIY stuff from here, as they don't have a brand attached.

Mods, any idea in that? Y/n/m?

This weekend I've been making tests with few of my own shaving oils, for example. Other had an olive oil base and another had an almond oil base, with different essential oils etc. Suprisingly, they all worked great, but I would love to hear, if it would be a good idea to add some witch hazel in there, for example.

I'll be glad to show off my stuff once I get the new bathroom done. We just moved into a new place, a fix'er'up'er, and I've got a lot of love (and blood) to pump into my future shave den. Understandably my workshop came first.

I've posted this in a couple other DIY threads, but why not, I can post it here too. Its a shave-shelf that the father-in-law and I put together out of scrap that was lying around the garage.

I posted this a couple days ago but it slipped way down not many views, I did not make it but re-purposed a vintage rubber stamp holder as a razor holder. It can only hold two brushes with the two wider slots which is perfect for me as I am not a big brush guy. I have my main razors right at hand, My EJ DB89 was hiding at the time in the shower. I love it so far.

That is awesome good sir! looks like it would save a ton of room in comparison to the counter killer I have lol

You guys have some good wookworking skills and you have done some creative work. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing.

However, I do have some reservations about the wisdom of storing loaded razors in moist bathrooms, and also next to damp shaving brushes. I believe the practice can degrade the sharpness of the blades, and reduce the quality and the number of shaves one might get per blade.

Why not have these various razor storage holders in an adjacent bedroom on a dresser? That is my practice and I think it pays off. Last week, for instance, I got 10 quality shaves on one Feather blade, using 3 passes daily on my coarse beard. I don't think that would have happened with bathroom storage.

Great idea! I just finished a shelf to hang my brushes and razors.
It was my first try so it didn't come out top notch but it's functional anyway.
I'll take a picture and post it here sometime.
