Holiday (or any day for that matter) Desserts

Often during the holiday season I get drafted to facilitate the dessert end of things. So...ask and ye shall receive.

I tweaked my recipe this year by adding a shot of fine bourbon whiskey to my mix. Added a great taste and smell to the pie.

Pecan Bourbon pie is always a good call. My Dad's neighbor from KY always made an excellent version of it.

I love a good pecan pie--just the straight up pecan pie without bourbon or chocolate chips or anything like that. I have nothing against those variations, but they rarely suit my tastes. My sister-in-law makes a great pecan pie from the Karo syrup recipe, and the only twist she puts on it is that she browns the butter. I'll have a nice slice of that this afternoon.

I also love my Mother's chocolate cream pie. It's hard to beat that one.

I don't go for pumpkin pie as much as I used to, but I still enjoy it.

Considering that I just baked four dozen lemon ginger cookies, I probably ought to count those.
