Hoffritz Slant resto

If you ever decide to sell that please look me up. I have the same razor which sadly I neglected to the point that it is a paperweight and not much more. But I love the shave it gives and the feel of it.

I've done some research on having it restored and apparently the materIal use in the head can't be stripped and replated. Sad.

Wow--that's amazing! How did you manage this? It's shiny chrome now. I wish I could get razors to look as sweet as this!

I believe the Hoffritz slant razors were silver plated, so I used the aluminum foil/hot water/baking powder technique described in many places on this forum (there is a nice pictorial put together by Brian DiPalma). Then scrubbing with an old toothbrush with toothpaste, followed by application of small amount of Maas metal polish and buffing with a soft cloth.

it looked very much like yours when it arrived but all I did was clean it up with Kaboom oxi clean and polished it with wendel , I could have used silver polish but didn't know much about it then . I love it , best DE I have . tuff beard . The grip should have a pearly white appearance also in the grooves of the bass of the handle. IS it paint ?? Is yours still there ? mine is but it is stained in parts and I am afraid to try and clean it . I read here that It was painted on but I don't know if that is true it looks possible .
Can it be cleaned ???
IF it's just textural then I'll go ahead and clean it .
AB

p.s. would you please post the link (by Brian Dipalma ) if it isn't too much trouble , thanks'

I have seen the chalky appearance in the knurling of the vintage slants referred to as "white nickel." I got Maas into the grooves of the knurling and polished everything for what its worth, but not sure how much of the white was still left on mine.

Here is the link for the tutorial:
