Hit the road with my Safety Razor.

Just over a month into my wet shaving / safety razor conversion work decided to isolate me for 10 days in America's Heartland. My first thought was to grab my Mach 3 and goo and pack my bags. As luck would have it everything came together at the last min...

Over the last 6 weeks or so I have acquired a number of wet shaving supplies and safety razors. My trip to Art of Shaving scored me a free travel kit with a travel brush. My order of Personnas had just arrived along with some witch hazel and styptic. Now to date I have 5 razors. They are all fine razors but my go to, the Vision is not what I would call travel friendly...

Then the Goodfella arrived. I had chance to use it twice before I left. It gave a good close shave with no irritation. No matter how unforgiving I was, my face felt fresh and smooth. Out came the Mach 3 and in went The Goodfella along with some other supplies. After some packing and stressing, off I went.

So how does this story end? I may actually now prefer my Goodfella over all my others safety razors. I can't get quite the same BBS shave I do with the vision but its simple design and mild aggressiveness make it easy to bust out a quick shave. As for the trip? I thought for sure I would miss the simplicity of a Mach 3 and canned goo being on the road. I had never taken a trip without the old standby and I'll admit I was a little nervous. But my first wet shave away from home went perfect and I was soon glad I made the decision I had.

I guess up till this trip I had suspected I might rebound one day and pick up a pack of Mach 3 blades. I might find some excuse to give up this quest and settle into a familiar routine. Now i know that day won't come. I believe I will be wet shaving with a safety razor until my end. Sorry i don't know if there was much of a point to this thread. I just wanted to share my experience. Thanks for taking the time to read all this.

Congrats on continuing DE shaving even when on the road. I usually cave in and use a Sensor, but I don't give up my brush and creams.

I truly enjoy the DE experience with a good soap and brush on the road. It brings a little more comfort while in a strange place away from home.
I'm glad you found this to be the same for you.
