Hershey Park?

Has anyone taken their kids to Hershey Park? If so, what did you think? Would it be a good choice for a 4 and a 1 1/2 year-old?

Thanks.

I went as a child in the '80s/'90s. I have fond memories. The rollercoasters aren't as exciting as those at King's Dominion or Six Flags, but I doubt that will affect the experience of your 4 and 1.5 yr old children. I'm assuming this is the Hershey Park in PA. Are there others? The Hershey in PA that I remember was definitely geared towards younger kids. HAVE FUN!!!

I was at Hershey Park about 5 years ago and it was great! Everything was clean and people were friendly, all in all it was a great trip. I'm sure you and your family (even the young ones) will enjoy it.

I haven't been in about 10 years, but it definitely struck me as a very family friendly amusement park. Lots of rides of various types plus an on-site zoo. So the kids so enjoy themselves no problem.

I disagree about the coasters not being all that exciting though. They may not record-breaking, but they have a nice, diverse collection. Great Bear and Wildcat are both very good coasters.

I am not sure the 1.5 year old is going to care one way or the other! But my recollection is that it worked pretty well when we went there when our kids were pretty young. Not so commericial as Kings Dominion, etc. Not so friggen crowded and a world unto its own as say Disney World Very family friendly and all that. I think they have a good selection of rides, if I recall so there would be things at least your 4 year old could go own. In Amish country, too, if I remember, which is kind of interesting. Family friendly all you can eat-type restrurants and that kind of thing. Decent food if you like fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and say pies. Hershey has an interesting history.

I would not fly in from LA to go there. But I certainly would consider coming down from NY. As I recall the hotels are pretty cheap.

I am taking my family to Hershey Park in July...Stayin about 10mins away and saved a hell of alot of money on hotel room. Also I was just watching something the other night on the Travel channel about Hershey Park. They have a New Coaster that has a 97degree drop. Cant wait to try that out..Everyone I asked about it sayed we will have FUN!!! I have a 3yr and a 1yr old..

Maybe their rollercoaster selection has improved; I don't remember Wildcat or Great Bear.
The 97 degree drop sounds awesome. maybe we should start a thread reviewing roller coasters. Roller coasters are similar to many edible delicacies...they are an acquired taste and I think are an authentic art form.

Much nicer than Busch Gardens and others of that ilk. I don't care much for places like that but Hershey seems a cut above the others.

I have been the last 2 years with my kids last year 6 and 9, and 5 and 8 the prior year.

There is lots to do for all ages but the park is definitely for older kids. Even my 9 year old couldn't go on about 20% of the rides.

We do love the place though, its a nice, clean family oriented park.

I was there in May, and have been going fairly regularly for about the past 40 years. All of the comments above regarding the atmosphere and the ages of your kids are correct, but if you can get away for a coaster or two (or a lot more), you won't regret it. They have everything you could want, from the original wooden Comet to two modern wooden coasters to the wildest metal rides you can stomach.

I was there a few times as a kid 12-15 years ago. Amusement park was good. No crazy insane rides like 6flags, but not a boring park by any means. The tour of the chocholate factory and that stuff was great.
