Hermes on ebay?

Putting this question to the group: would you buy Hermes edt's on ebay? If so, vintage or new? Neither? I ask because, on the one hand, there's lots of anxiety about buying scents on ebay (Creed) which are very popular; feedback is also ambiguous regarding scent authenticity, at best, it seems. On the other hand, if I'm looking for something (Equipage) that isn't *too* sought after, can I be relatively confident about a purchase? What are your experiences?

Buying colognes on ebay is hit and miss. There are good sellers and not so good with deteriorated stock. It's best to get a referral on the better sellers.

I had a bad experience purchasing Terre d'Hermes off of ebay. I thought that I had just made a bad decision and that I had just misunderstood the sample I had tried. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a bottle from Sephora. I am so glad that I did. The bottle I had purchased from ebay was either a bad clone or had gone bad.

Thank you everyone. Has anyone dealt with perfumesbear on ebay? (Is it cool asking this? Not linking to auctions or anything.) Think I'm interested in the vintage equipage.

I'd rather buy frags online from a reputable supplier than on eBay if buying in person really isn't an option.

I'm all for saving a buck, but not on eBay frags.

Depending on the depth of the discount being offered, you have to ask yourself why is it being sold so much cheaper than anywhere else?

If it's a "used" frag or partial bottle, I'm sure many are legit. But who knows?

I'd stick to web sites with a good rep, or sellers in here or Basenotes with a ton of posts and a good rep.

I have a concern some of the Hermes scents (i.e. Terre D'Hermes) are certainly popular enough to have encouraged production of fakes. I don't think anyone would fake an Equipage, but who knows.

If you're new to frags, buy it on eBay and it doesn't meet your expectations - legit juice or not - you spend a lot of energy second guessing your purchase.

Make sure they're not using a stock photo and check the feedback for similar items. Even if they have 100% feedback but it's all on fishing lures, then you're taking a pretty big risk buying a frag from them.

I've purchased quite a few on ebay and haven't had any problems so far...

I see way too many comments on sellers sites that the customer received a "watered down" product. And since most sell testers without atomizers, I see how they can get away with it. I'm not saying all do, but spend more money elsewhere to know that you are getting what you paid for.

I bought some vintage equipage on ebay a few months ago and everything was fine, it arrived on time, well-packaged and seems completely legit! I checked the seller before purchasing and they had a lot of positive feedback...Definitely caveat emptor-
