Help with razor ID

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this razor. I just recently bought a ball end Tech from ebay (which I probably overpaid a bit for) and am excited to start using it. While I await it's arrival I need to pick up a brush and mug. I found an auction on ebay that has a brush, mug and razor and am wondering if it's worth purchasing. I'm not made of money right now (I run my own photography business and times have been a little slower recently) but would like to spend my money on something worth having so I figure going used is probably my best option. Anyway, just looking for some advice as to whether this would be a worthwhile purchase or not. The only identifying comments from the seller are that it is a Gillette Regus (which I assume means Reg. US).

Sorry about that. I tried to use the 'insert image' tool on the forum, didn't work. They should show up now.

It's a Gold Tech. Looks to be in well used condition. The top of the head looks to have no plating left and may be down to the brass. I have one of these in about the same condition it's a nice shaver, the thicker handle is nice to use. But if the plating is gone from the top it will tarnish quite quickly from use, not a big deal and doesn't effect its shaving just makes it look a bit ugly. Unless it's going really cheaply I'd say your better off waiting and trying to get a nickel plated one. Also if you already have a ball end tech this may not be much different.

With regards to brush and mug. You should be able to pick a mug/bowl from a thrift store for next to nothing that will do the job till you have some more money. There are plenty of cheap brushes on ebay. Someone else may be able to help here with a good cheap one. There is also the BST forum here where there are some good buys from guys on this forum. Also check out Etsy. There's some fair deals going there too. Hope this helps some.

If all you need is a brush and bowl, get a Van Der Haven shave set. Bowl/soap/brush. Not the best brush, but it will work till you get another one.

Thanks for the help and suggestions guys. I'm still trying to decide on this auction. $42 isn't too awfully bad for a Fuller brush, a cool mug and an old Gillette Tech (especially if I just sell the Tech as I just bought one!). I suppose what I really need is a stand and brush more than anything right now. I can 'borrow' a mug or bowl from the kitchen. My girlfriend might not be happy about that but she'll live. I'm surprised at the prices of stands. I already checked a huge antique shop in my area and found no razors, no brushes, no stands. My blade sampler pack came in yesterday. I cant' wait to try DE shaving. I had an old plastic Wilkinson Sword DE razor that I would scrape foam off my face with when I was a child (no blade, of course). Thanks again for the input, everyone.

Try buying a nicer looking tech without a box - you'll get a better deal
I just shaved with my Fat Handled Tech for the first time today, finally got around to it - very smooth, mild shaver - actually like it better than my Super Speed. I have a synthetic brush that i can sell at what it cost me - if you are interested PM me

Just to clarify I actually already purchased a Ball End Tech. I was just considering this auction mainly for the mug and brush but I decided not to go for it. There are some vintage cheap mugs on ebay that I now have my eye on. My Tech came yesterday and I have now shaved twice with it. I think I'll create a separate post to talk about my experience.

Elliot, I only just saw your post. We are already exchanging PM's so we're up to date, haha.
