Help with MWF

This soap is truly outstanding. It did take me a while to lather, but I will assume that there is a learning curve here. Its scent is absolutely wonderful and I had an extremely close shave. My face was very smooth afterwards. I expected my skin to be left more moist, owing to the lanolin, but it was by no means dried out.

The first time I used the Chubby 1 in Super and face lathered. The second time I used The Hive in Manchurian and bowl lathered. I followed Mantic's instructions with warm and not hot water, so the lather was cool and not warm.

I did experience some post-shave irritation (not much) each time I used MWF. My face appeared normal for the most part, but more than anything else I had a faint burning sensation for about an hour after shaving. After one shave, I used Weleda Balm and after another shave, I used GFT Coral Skin Food. The Skin Food seemed to calm down the burning only slightly, while the Weleda may have aggravated it.

I did use Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap prior to shaving each time. I plan to omit it the next time I use MWF.

Perhaps the lather was too runny. Perhaps I should have used hot water. Perhaps a different after shave product is in order.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might improve the outcome with this wonderful soap?

Some people are allergic to either lanolin or impurities that are left after lanolin is processed. In general, good ingredients do not preclude allergic reactions. If the problem persists after you've manipulated the variables, then--with regrets--you may have to pass the MWF on to other B&B members and explore the many other wonderful soaps.

Some folks say to do a test on another part of your body, say the inside of your upper arm just to eliminate any variables like scraped skin, other products, etc. Or put it on your face but don't shave.

Worth a try. Luckily I have had no reactions to any shaving products I've tried (except really aggressive razors!)

Why not just use the MWF by itself without any other pre or post shave products. Cold water rinse should be sufficient to determine if it is the soap that is causing the irritation as the lanolin will moisturize your skin quite well. Good luck.

I did this today and the result was perfect. Here is the complete picture from today:

-I used my Vulfix 2235 in Super;
-I bowl lathered with hot water;
-The lather was more copious and more substantial than when I had lathered with warm water;
-I was able to omit aftershave altogether.

:badger: I had been worried that I wouldn't be able to use this fine soap!
