Help with Identifying an open comb?

I was gifted this razor. Believed to have been for the 1945 period. The owner was in the Navy during WWII. Only patent numbers available. Thank you for any help.

I don't know nearly as much as the experts here but I'd guess at a NEW Short Comb because the Gillette logo is in the centre, not on the side. If this is so you're a lucky guy! I think production of the NEW ended in 1938 so shouldn't be later.

My friend, that is going to clean up beautifully. You have a remarkable piece. A little flitz polish and a cloth and you’ve got a real beauty. Congratulations!

What is this made of or plated with? The handle isn’t responding to Maas. Also, what will clean up the case and the blade box? Thank you

It’s brass/copper with a very thin 14k gold coating. If you polish it up, the gold will be gone.

Very easily could be the last razor you ever need. You might want more, but this razor checks all the boxes.
