Help with blade selection

Hello.
I am new to the shaving world of using DE razors.
In my starter pack I got 3 samples.
Derby, Personna Red and Feathers.

I am finding the Derby are not sharp enough for me and the Feathers are a little to sharp for my beginner technique.

I am liking the Personna Red's but was wondering if there is anything between the Personna Red's and Feathers in the way of sharpness?

Thank you for any replies.

Technique is such a big factor, I would keep trying them and see how they change. I started with Derbys, worked great, just wanted to try something else, so I went to feathers and they forced me to improve my form a little, and that payed off when I used Derbys again, I get a great shave. Can't recommend any blades though.

+1 on Scott's comment.

If you want to try anything else, Astra Superior Platinum might do the trick, YMMV!

I would agree with both Scott and Luc. As your technique improves so will the blade choice change. Astra's are a good blade but I still recommend IP Reds to all my customers. In fact I use them myself. I save the feather for a special shave because they are just to expensive.

Thank you guys. I will just keep working on my technique then :001_smile

I have always had very thick hair to the point those electric trimmers at hair dressers almost give up.

I like the Pesonna Red, So I will just stick with them and work on my technique.

Gillette SharpEdge (Yellow pack from Russia) is right there in between Red IPs & Feathers.
They are also pretty easy to come by, not to expensive, and most important gives a great, smoooooooth shave.
Another choice is the Gillette Bleues.

I know my technique probably is not the best as I am a beginner but I found the Derby to catch the hair.. Almost like it was an already blunt blade. I may have been given a dodgey pack and will try again based on reviews I have seen on this forum.

Thank you very much.

I will be looking at obtaining both to test.
