While I was in a different city on business today I decided to hit up one of the antique malls to look for some shaving grub. I ended up leaving with 3 razors and several different types of blades. Being very new to the "hobby" of wet shaving and having already been self diagnosed with Razor AD this is my first acquisition of vintage blades and I would like to know more about what I got. I have searched the Internet but have come up somewhat empty handed.
Below are the pictures of what I got. If someone could let me know more about these and maybe the time frame in which each of these would have been made. The blades with King Gillette on them are the 3 hold type blades so I assume that they are probably the oldest. They also seem to have a serial number although I'm not sure why they would put serial numbers on blades. I was unable to find out any information about the PAL blades. The same goes for the Silver Star blades. The Red Gillette Thin blades seem to be somewhat common. Also I have no idea what is on the bottom left in the photo. It was in with some blades that were in a case for a razor I purchased. They are longer than the blades and they appear to have a sharp edge. Also the blade holders were in the case also which had an old style Gillette in it. I am guessing the writing is in German? I figure the case is not the correct one for the razor as there is no identifying marks at all. I'll ask about it in the Safety Razor forum. Thanks for your help.
