Help with a tie.

Alright guys, I need some help. I picked up a new suit charcoal pin-striped suit and I can't decide what kind of tie to wear with it. Any help will be appreciated.I apologize for the quality of the pictures.

Nice looking suit! For the sake of your suit, please take it off that wire hanger and put it on a nice wooden hanger (a thick plastic hanger would be OK, too)!

Charcoal is one of the most versatile colored suits around, so you have lots of options. I think any shade of blue would look great with that suit. A red tie would also look good with a charcoal pinstripe suit. I also often wear purple ties, rust color ties, silver ties, and lavender ties with my charcoal suits.

I never wear polka dots or striped ties with my pinstripe suits. Too many stripes and dots, and you start to look like wall paper. The only color I would stay away from would be a black tie -- you'll look like a funeral director.

The suit was only placed on a wire hanger for the duration of the picture, and was promptly returned to its wooden hanger.

Like others have said, you can wear anything you want. I've worn green, purple, silver, navy, gold, and charcoal. Wear what you want...most of it depends on the occasion. No offense to the gentlemen who suggested burgundy or red...while a good choice, I try to steer away from red and burgundy ties in my wardrobe because its what a majority of men wear. Also, I blue shirt with a navy tie with blue poka-dots looks great.

go the tie section of your fav shop. throw a dart. pick the tie the dart hits.

any tie should go with that suit and white shirt.

Tons of options with that combo. A very classic, crisp look would be a burgandy or wine colored tie with a white pin dot and would not conflict with the stripes imo. Really stands out. A solid red would be killer too.

Stripes can work if they are significantly different from the stripes in the suit :thumbup1:

I'd suggest something navy. It won't clash with the charcoal of the suit, and it also won't make you stick out if you're trying to blend in.

I would second the red silk tie if you're trying to project confidence, for a presentation or a date. A red tie with a full windsor would look great!

Congratulations on your new suit!! :biggrin1:

I would agree with a simply patterned red or blue tie. I, personally, will always pick a woven tie over a printed pattern, but everyone here may or may not agree. In addition to various themes based on red or blue, another excellent option would be a grey/silver and purple striped tie... especially if paired with a suitable pocket square.

P.S... good choice on the Charles Tyrwhitt shirt. I first found out about them here on B&B, and love the way they look and fit. That being said, does anybody else notice that that sweat MUCH more in a CT shirt than others?
