Help to identify what I have...

Well I found one of my grandfathers razor the other day and am wanting to know some information on it. The plating is nearly all worn off and I want to have it polished and restored. It is a thick wedge with barbers notch and "Wostenmolm & Sons" "+ EBRO +" "France Works" on the blade. There appears to be an iron cross before and after the word EBRO. I have no idea what the scales are made out of, but they are fairly thin. They appear to be some type of bone or horn material. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated. Please note that there no "J" or "G" initial before the name. I did some research on the web and found several blades, but they had the first initial before "Wostenmolm"

PERSEVERANCE - PERSEV = ERANCE which looks like FRANCE if the bottom of the 'E' is worn away or stamped on an angle as it appears yours was

Look at how "France Works" isn't centered on the logo. If you make that "Perseverance Works", the writing becomes centered.

Nice, razor, chief. It'll be a looker. :thumbup1:

Nah guys, you've got it all wrong! it's the rare Wostenholm razor that was made in Theirs

Seriously though, mis-stampings happen all the time, sometimes it's because the blanks were put in at an angle on the press, sometimes it's because the stamping wasn't deep enough to show up when the razor is polished/ground down (I think they must have stamped a lot of these razors before final finishing, or something) or they've just had a bit of hone wear that for some reason, extends out to the shank

The scales on this one look a little like either bone, or ivory to me, I'm gonna hazard a guess and say Ivory. simply because most bone scales seem to be a lot thicker then that

Oh, and there's also the the comment I wanna make, Awesome score! get that thing polished up and she's good to go. Heirloom pieces always rock:thumbup:

(also, plating? unless you mean possibly some sort of goldwash is no longer there, don't think this razor would have had any of that, no etching on the blade or anything like that)

Thanks you all for the info. You all are probably right about the "france works" I never even thought about that before. Thanks again for all your help/information.
