Help! Need advice on rebanding a watch

I've got a wonderful Swiss Army watch that was given to me as a 21st birthday gift, but I haven't worn it in about four years. The battery died the day before I went to basic training, and then when I pulled it out of storage the strap had been nicked somehow and soon fell apart like so:

I've been meaning to get a new band and get it running again for ages, but I don't have the first clue how and I'm wondering if some of our B&B watch connoisseurs might know what to do. I had no problems at all with the old plastic/rubber/whatever band you see there, but I have no idea if the way it's mounted precludes using a different kind of strap. As you can tell, I'm more than clueless on this. Anyway, if anyone has info out there, it would be much appreciated.

Hi there
You have a couple of options.
1. Take it to a competent Jeweller's store or anywhere that sells watches and they'll be able to do it for you in a jiffy and for not a lot of money.
2. Cut the band off yourself and replace it with a standard G10 strap, without having to replace or remove the pins. There are a couple of threads about these straps in the recent archive or you could go to www.watchworx.co.uk for great options
3。Get an extremely small flathead screwdriver and get into the springbars, levering the tiny tiny radial prying suface to compress them and at the same time pushing slightly away from the watch, thus free-ing the strap. Replace the strap using the same bars, tho you'll probably get an extra pair with it which might fit it better, and compress and snap back into place.
Good luck!
