I ordered a couple of samples of MWS Wild lavender Bay Rum And Mysore sandelwood. I absolutely live the smell of this stuff but can't get it to lather right. Every time I use it it drys up on one side of my face before I can even get there. I have tried face lathering palm lathering and bowl lathering with pretty much the same results. I'm I just using way too much water? Oh and I'm using a VDH pure badger brush. Is the lather supposed to be really thick like yogurt or closer to a arko type thinner lather?

Sounds like you are in the same boat as many others, including me. These soaps appear to be either performing excellently for some or diabolical for others. I tried lathering 2 of these soaps all ways. Different brushes, wet, dry, you name it, I did it. My lather evaporated on one side before I even got to it. For me there are too many great soaps that lather with ease to even bother.
Thick like yogurt. I load like it's my job, and this soap explodes for me. I had been shaving with MWF, Williams, and Godrej before, so I think most of the recommended soaps here lather easier than anything I was using. I'm thinking with the disappearing soap maybe keep whipping that on the puck until you get nice, thick lather. If its more product than lather at that point, then more water.

The key is loading enough soap. This is easier to accomplish if you soak the soap with hot water for a couple minutes before loading and then swirl and swirl until the brush is totally saturated.

Use a drier brush to start; load for a bit longer; add water little by little and lather longer than usual. i love it and i have no issues. Good luck.
