Help me upgrade from Omega Badger

Along time ago, when I was shaving with a Mach 3 I bought myself a badger brush from a local store. The brush was an Omega 6191 http://www.omegabrush.com/english/dabarba/oggetto.php?id=153

Well anyway, from looking around here it seems very few people ever talk about Omega badger brushes, and only talk about their boars. Does this mean that the Omega badgers aren't that good compared to some of the other big name badgers ?

Ive found the brush nice, but a bit scratchy on my face especially if im face lathering. I also found it doesn't seem to hold alot of water compared to my Pro 49 bore (this is a nice brush, and im glad i bought it but personally I prefer the feel of the badger a bit more).

So what do you guys think I should purchase next ? I know Semogue are mainly known for their boars, but they seem to have some valued badgers. Are they any decent ? Id rather keep the spend below $100. Theres alot of brushes out there, and I don't know where to start looking.

Thanks.

I dont have any Omega badger brushes so I cant comment on them. Though I have heard that some of the silvertips tend to be on the floppy side. At worst you cant take a look at the reviews section for any brush you happen to be interested in.

I'm not sure what kind of brush your looking for so I will just suggest some good all around performers. I'm sure better suggestions will come out of the woodwork if you give us some more info on your shaving style.

First of witch is the Rooney style 3 size 1. Its a good small brush, well suited to creams/soaps and is very dense.

Elite Razor makes some very pretty and very nice brush's. I have one and for the price its a very soft dense brush with a good deal of backbone. Bob Quin does custom work and has literally hundreds of options on handle shape and material.

Shavemac is another great company, there brushes are a step up in price, but they are among the best. I have two of these guys and they are great. You can pick up a 23mm Serie 177 for just over a hundred. Bernd that runs the sight can also customize your brush by loft size, shape, and density (among others).

If your still confused Bob Quin and Bernd will both take the time to help you figure out what you want. After doing business with both of them, I will go so far as to say they are both willing to go the extra mile to put the perfect brush into your hands. There are really so many good options out there that most of us end up with a small (or enormous) collections.

Thanks so far guys.

so what do I want in a brush ? Well to be honest im not sure. I want it to hold a fair bit of water, want the brush to have a decent backbone (I like the Pro 49s backbone), but I want the tips to be nice and soft and not to have that scratchy feeling.

The Omega badger im using at the moment is quite floppy, but I don't mind the overall size of it. I think I want a dense brush, but really im not sure.

Bit of a brush newb here :) Im trying to do a little research before I jump into the purchase. Id prefer to buy something a little more expensive if I know its going to last me a long time, and if I know its going to suit me.

Check the b/s/t often. Yesterday there was a Simpson T2 in two band available for $100 which is 1/3 off retail. You might also search the thread on the New Forest. The next one is due out in September and will be a silver tip with a short loft.

You're screaming Savile Row there, bub. I have the 3722 and I couldn't be more pleased. The Rooney 3/1 is a very fine brush, but not as soft tips, and not as much backbone as the Savile Row. Anything in the Silvertip range (3XXX) and I could easily advise the 22mm knot, so 3X22.
