Hey guys, I need some help deciding on a new high end DE, as I got tired of my Ikon S3S and sold it on the B/S/T. I am looking at a Tradere open comb, the above the tie models, a Mergress, the Feather as-d1/d2 or a pils. What do you all think I should go with? I'm currently shaving with a straight or Muele R41. If you think another razor would serve me better, post it up! Thanks guys!

The Tradere looks very intriguing.
I'd go with the slant.
Another vote for the Mergress
+1 for the Mergress - it does everything well - and comfortably.

I'm looking for something in the middle, aggressive but not super harsh.

I use a Futur set at 1. Almost everyone says this is an aggressive razor and I agree with them. I get a great shave pairing the Futur with Crystal Platinum Chrome blades. The head on this razor is large. You will probably experience a learning curve when using it under the nose and around the ears.
I also have a 1964 Gillette Aristocrat. This is supposedly the gold version of the Slim Adjustable. This razor starts at the very mild end and moves into the Futur range. It doesn't have a greater gap but aggressiveness is more than gap. I use this one at 4 and get a shave comparable to the Futur at 1. Don't forget, YMMV. I really like this razor. It is very manoeuvrable. (I enjoy seeing the British spelling.) Crystal Platinum Chrome blades work well for me in this one too.
If I was in the market for another adjustable I'd probably opt for the modified Progress / Mergress. Heard lots of good things.
I'm headed in the other direction. My next purchase or trade will probably be the stainless Feather.
